The Clare varsity track teams competed at the Freeland Invitational on Friday, with both the boys and girls teams coming in third place in the seven team event.
For the boys, in the 100 meter dash Clare had Alex Haupt come in fourth place, in the 200 Haupt placed third and in the 400 Brock Demo was Clare’s top finisher, coming in ninth.
In the 800, Ryan Whiteman placed eighth, while in the 1600 Hunter Nivison took third and Kevin Spicer-Torres placed fourth.
In the 3200 Nivison put in a second place performance, with Devin Ayers giving the team third and second place finishes in the 110 and 300 hurdles.
The 4×400 relay team of Brock Demo, Devin Ayers, Chase Field and Haupt took third with the 4×800 team of Nivison, Demo, Field and Whiteman coming in third as well.
Tyler Gillespie won the shot put and took fourth in discus and Field won the high jump.
For the girls, Mallory McDowell took fourth in the 100 and Lexi Harton took eighth in the 200. Lindsay Winter ran to a fourth place finish in the 800 and Victoria Harper took second in the 1600. Jasmine Harper added a first place finish in the 3200.
In the 100 hurdles, Madi Warner took fifth while in the 300 hurdles Krysten Kruskamp placed third and Paige Gould was fourth.
An unidentified 4×100 relay took third for the Pioneers, and their 4×200 team took second. The 4×400 placed third and the 4×800 took first place honors.
Tealen Brown competed in shot put, placing sixth and Brown added a fifth place finish in the discus. Warner took sixth in the high jump, Hannah Hofweber was fifth in the pole vault and Kruskamp won the long jump.
Clare competes next at the Morley Stanwood Invitational on Saturday and competes at Farwell April 23.
