Saturday, June 1st was planting day at the Surrey Township library. Heidi Trotter, MMCC student and resident of Farwell, adopted and planted the first bed up for community adoption (Heidi is pictured on the left ). The 635 Michigan Read & Feed garden is up and running! The library has many garden and reading events planned including a visit in early October by Pat Harrison. Known as “The Lord of the Gourd”, Harrison will do his amazing pumpkin and squash carving for audiences of all ages at the library. He will be using pumpkins and squash grown by the children’s summer reading group in the garden.
