A Coleman father and son were seriously injured October 4 in a car motorcycle crash in Isabella County’s Wise Township.

According to a press release from the Michigan State Police, Mt. Pleasant Post, the accident happened around 6:30 p.m. on Pere Marquette Road near Methner Road when a 2006 Ford driven by a 67 year-old Coleman man turned in front of a 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle that was being driven eastbound by a 42 year-old Coleman man with a 12 year-old passenger, also of Coleman.

Although attempts to find out the identity of the people involved were unsuccessful after several calls to the State Police, the two who were injured were identified by other sources as Vinny Plummer and his son Vance, both from Coleman. Plummer, the motorcycle driver, was airlifted to Covenant Hospital in Saginaw then transferred to Hurley Medical Center in Flint. His son was also taken to Hurley.

The driver of the Ford, who has still not been identified identified, was not injured.

Troopers said seatbelts and helmets were used and alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in the accident. They were assisted at the scene by Mobile Medical Response, LifeNet, Clare Police, Coleman Police, Coleman Fire Department and the Clare County Sheriff’s Department.

Information came in at press time that the Plummers are reportedly improving, but both remain in intensive care.
