Darin Michael Champine, 47, of Farwell, was found guilty of sexually exploiting three minor children in 55th Circuit Court May 13.
He was found guilty of two counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct, 2nd Degree; three counts of Gross Indecency; three counts of Accosting for Immoral Purpose; and three counts of Aggravated Indecent Exposure involving three minor children who were acquaintances.
He and Angela Lynn Parrish, 41, were arrested after a March 7, 2013 complaint to Farwell’s School Liaison Officer about the distribution of child pornography led to an investigation, criminal sexual conduct charges and charges of distributing sexual explicit material against the Farwell man and woman.
Clare County Sheriff’s Department Deputies investigated the allegations, discovering evidence of CSC involving females under 16 years old. The investigation led to the March 22, 2013 arrest of Darin Michael Champine, 45, for three counts of CSC in the 2nd Degree; and to the arrest of Angela Lynn Parrish, 41, on the charge of three counts of distributing sexual explicit material.
Conviction of second degree criminal sexual conduct carries a penalty of up to 15 years in prison and registration on the sex offender registry.
Conviction of the distributing sexual explicit material, a felony, carries a penalty of up to seven years in prison and/or a fine of up to $50,000. Possession of sexually explicit material is an up to four-year felony and/or a fine of up to $10,000.
