degree (involving a minor child age 13-15) and possession of child sexually abusive material.

“The convictions stemmed from an investigation conducted by the Clare County Sheriff’s Office which began in January of 2017,” according to a post by Clare County Prosecutor Michelle Ambrozaitis Monday.

Lt. Mike Bailey of the CCSO said the teen’s mother came in to the office in January of 2017 to report that a then 24-year-old man had been sending her daughter inappropriate pictures by text. The CSC was discovered during a forensic interview of the minor. He said the investigation and lab results were then turned over to the Prosecutor’s Office for review and charges.

Sanborn was arrested on August 9th, following the investigation.

Sanborn was sentenced by Judge Roy Mienk to: 8 to 30 years for the CSC charge and to 3 to 8 years on the possession of child porn charge. He was given credit for 80 days already served and both sentences will run concurrently.

He was also ordered to pay $1,896 in fines, cost and court appointed attorney fees and was ordered to have no contact with the minor victim. He will also be subject to a lifetime registration on the sex offender registry.
