Clare City Police are looking for the driver that hit an Amish buggy in Clare last Saturday and sped away.

The accident, which happened on McEwan Street by Mary Street, was reported to police around 9:30 a.m., Clare Police Chief Brian Gregory reported.

He said the buggy was southbound on McEwan when it was rear-ended by a silver/gray vehicle with a poor paint job. The buggy driver was thrown onto the road and the horse ran onto Mary Street.

The vehicle then changed lanes and accelerated away.

The driver was described as a white male with short blond hair. The vehicle should have damage on the front passenger side and possibly on the hood, Gregory said.

The buggy driver received minor injuries. He refused transport to the hospital.

Gregory said anyone with information about the vehicle and driver involved in the accident should contact the Clare Police at 989-386-2121.
