Clare Parks and Recreation ran their annual “Recreation Complex Raffle” during the 2015 Clare Youth Soccer season. The raffle proceeds will go towards the development for the new recreation complex. This year with the help of Clare Area Chamber of Commerce, parents, coaches, and the youth soccer players, Clare Parks and Recreation was able to raise $4,230.14 (after prize payout and raffle license fee) for the project.

The drawing for the raffle was held at the Clare Municipal Airport on October 17, 2015. The winners were drawn by Clare High School boy’s varsity soccer coach, Doug Helmling. Helmling drew the 1st place winner Fern Caldwell who won $300, the $200 – 2nd place winner Larry Kleinhardt, and 3rd place winner JJ Klaus with $100 at 12 p.m., and the winners were contacted immediately after by Joy Simmer of Clare Parks and Recreation.

As part of a raffle seller incentive, Clare Parks and Recreation was able to get donations towards “player prizes”. Each player was assigned twenty-four tickets and the players who sold all of their pack, were entered into a prize drawing. Huhtamaki Foundation was very generous and donated $500 to go towards the player prizes and with their funds, Clare Parks and Recreation was able to purchase a lot of great prizes for those winners. Some of the prizes included; hammocks, tackle boxes, compasses, sport equipment bags, etc.

There were also other items donated by Jay’s Sporting Goods, Snow Snake Ski & Golf, Mt. Pleasant Discovery Museum, Cops & Doughnuts, Eagle Glen Golf Course, the Soaring Eagle Waterpark and Hotel, and Ray’s Bike Shop. The prize winners were drawn on October 16, 2015 and were able to pick up their prizes on October 17, 2015 during their last soccer game.
