A sudden storm that dumped 3.5 inches of rain on Clare in less than an hour early Wednesday morning caused some flooding in the city and along the Tobacco River and Little Tobacco Drain.

The Tobacco was up several feet and flooded areas on the south side of the airport and in Clare near the Department of Public Works and below the dam.

The high water around Clare began receding later Wednesday morning.

Near Goodrich, southeast of Flint, the National Weather Service reported several funnel cloud sightings and a tornado that touched down near the Goodrich High School. No injuries were reported. High winds in southern Genesee County also toppled numerous trees, power lines and damaged homes.

Downed trees and Funnel clouds were also reported in the Kalamazoo area as the storms moved through the Lower Peninsula late Tuesday.
