Robert S. Allen

Robert S. Allen, 62, of Clare, passed away Friday, Dec. 16, 2011 after a car accident in Clare. Bob was born to Jean (Anderson) and Rex Allen on Sept. 27, 1949 in Clare. He married his high school sweetheart, Susan Luplow on Sept. 18, 1971.

Bob was a graduate of Clare High School and Ferris State University. He was a longtime owner of Allen Agency Inc. and was active in Clare’s Rotary Club and the Downtown Development Authority.

Bob is survived by his wife, Sue, of 40 years, his daughter, Kristin (Kevin) Bull of Rochester Hills, MI, his son, Matthew (Kristine) Allen of Brownsburg, IN, and grandchildren Brady Bull, Caroline Bull, Sophie Allen and Gus Allen.

Bob is also survived by his brother, Jim (Judy) Allen of Clare, brothers-in-law Steve (Patty) Luplow of Garland, TX and Kelly (Chris) Luplow of Clare,  mother-in-law, Nina Lou Luplow of Clare, and special nieces and nephews: Joe Allen, Jeff (Becky) Allen, Silas Allen, Jason Allen, Stephanie (Doug) Allen, Emylee Allen, Jeffrey Allen, Jonathon Luplow, Nick Luplow, Christopher Luplow, Brent Luplow, Reyna Luplow and Jillian Luplow. He will always be remembered as “Uncle Bob.”

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his father-in-law, Bud Luplow.

Bob loved Buddy’s Pizza, the Detroit Lions, downhill skiing, scuba diving, Time magazine, frozen Pepsis and “Million Dollar Days.”

Bob’s family would like to thank the numerous people involved in his search.

Memorial donations may be made to Pere Marquette District Library, 185 E. Fourth Street, Clare, Michigan 48617. His family chose the library for his memorial because he instilled in his children a love of the written word, and because his grandchildren will forever have memories of storytime with grandpa.

Memorial Services for Bob were held privately for the family and officiated by Pastor Jim Young.  A time of public gathering was held Thursday, December 22, 2011 from 2-4 P.M. at the Clare Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home.  On-line condolences may be made at
