Rodenbo, a high school social studies teacher for Clare Public Schools, currently coaches Clare’s varsity girls’ basketball team.  He graduated from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Education and later earned a master’s degree in Educational Leadership.

“Matt is a longtime educator who has experience as a teacher, administrator and coach.  He has a proven track record of success and is a great addition to our athletic staff,” stated MMCC’s Athletic Director Terri Szur.  “Additionally, I’m confident that his personable nature will position him to be a terrific recruiter who will quickly build a competitive women’s team.”

Outside of his coaching at Clare Schools, Rodenbo spent five years coaching boys’ basketball for Alma Public Schools and three years as the varsity boys’ basketball coach for Coleman High School.  His teams at Clare have been extremely successful, winning the past two Jack Pine Conference Championships with undefeated records and earning district and regional titles in the MHSAA post-season tournaments.  In the past three years, his record is 45-6; for the current season, his team’s record is 12-1.

“Through determination and hard work, I am confident that we can get The Lakers Women’s Basketball program to a level that we can all be proud of,” Coach Rodenbo stated.  “This starts with recruiting and retaining student athletes who will positively represent the college both on and off the court.”

Rodenbo will officially begin coaching MMCC Women’s Basketball at the conclusion of the girls’ basketball season for Clare High School.  To learn more about MMCC’s athletics, visit midmich.edu/athletics.
