The quilt block competition sponsored by the Clare Depot Committee and the Clare County Arts Council was held last Saturday at the 515 Gallery in Clare.
Monica Roeuch was the winner and received a $100.00 check for her entry. Honorable mentions went to Jason Mathews and Kyleah Klenke.
Arts Council member Jan Winter said, “There were 23 submissions for the contest and we had a fantastic turnout at the gallery reception which featured all of the quilt block entries and depot historical artifacts, photographs, memorabilia and art.” The display will be available at the 515 Gallery through October 26. The winning quilt block will be enlarged to an eight foot square design and placed in the renovated Clare Depot as part of the Clare County Quilt Block Trail Tour.
Kim Kleinhardt’s 515 Gallery Management Class Students raised $250 through the “Junk-It” show they organized this past summer, donating that profit to the Clare Railroad Depot Rehabilitation project.
