An investigation that began last February led to the arrest and Tuesday’s arraignment of Brandon Haggart, 31 of Rosebush, on two counts of criminal sexual conduct and one charge of accosting and minor for immoral purposes.

The Isabella County Sheriff’s Office was called to investigate when the mother of a six-year-old girl informed officers the youngster had just told her about the abuse. The youngster’s mother told officers the abuse had been happening for about one year.

Haggart is charged with one count of CSC first degree (penetration) involving a youngster under the age of 13: one count of CSC second degree (without penetration); and one count of accosting a minor for immoral purposes. First degree CSC is a felony with a maximum penalty of life in prison; 2nd degree CSC is a 15 year felony and accosting a child for immoral purposes is a four-year felony.

Haggart faces a preliminary examination August 29th.
