Great things happen in Clare due to collaboration.  The Clare Rotary received a matching grant from Rotary International that enabled the club and the city to upgrade two city parks that are heavily used by area residents and tourists.  The club received $2,000 from the district Rotary and matched it with $2,000 from the club and $2,000 from the city of Clare.  Part of the proceeds were used to purchase paint that was used by club members, the Clare girls’ sports teams, and friends of Rotary to repaint the playscape at Brookwood Park.  The remainder of the funds were used to purchase new playground equipment that was recently installed in Pettit Park by the Parks and Recreation Department.

Clare Rotary gives back about $13,000 annually to area causes ranging from scholarships to support of fireworks, holiday festivities, school activities and other worthy civic and educational projects.  Area business, civic and educational leaders interested in the club may explore membership by contacting Clare Rotary President Steve Barnes, proprietor of Maxwell’s Flowers and Gifts.  You may call him at 989.386.7742.
