5-31-13 MUG Sampson, PatrickA 64 year-old Lake man was arrested last week on possession of Child Sexually Abusive Material (Child Pornography) and with a Transient Merchant Act Violation.

Lt. Ed Williams of the Clare County Sheriff’s Department reported that the pornography was discovered during another, unrelated investigation.

Reportedly, in addition to the porn possession, Patrick Sampson was also running an illegal store selling items without a business license on Birch Street in the Playland Subdivision in Lake.

He was arraigned in 80th District Court on the two counts, Williams said.

The victims in the Child Pornography were “way under the age of 18,” he added. They were not local youngsters, but were taken from the Internet. “We may never know who they are,” said Williams.

Sampson is currently in jail pending a $20,000 bond.

If convicted of the offense, Mr. Sampson is the problem not a symptom of the problem. I’m reminded of a truth I recently read in Due Process: “…to support this 100-billion-dollar-a-year business. Walter concluded rightly, those that fronted the capital created the market where children were enslaved to make their masters rich. There were no innocent participants.” Illegal Child Pornography will only stop when consumers stop buying it.
