Chuck and Stefanie Powell, both life-long residents and graduates of Harrison, opened the new family business in Clare the first of June. Their other store is at 2020 East Cranberry Lake Road on the Corner of Old U.S. 27 in Harrison, where they have offered a “little bit of everything at wholesale prices” for the past eight years.
The new Clare Store is in the former My Pet Supply building at 1050 North McEwan, which is right next door to Gateway Pharmacy.
Chuck’s is a family run business with help from the couple’s two daughters and two sisters. They take turns working at both businesses, Chuck said.
They said they are happy to be open in Clare. “We were surprised at how the business has taken off already,” he added. “People here and the City officials couldn’t have been nicer to us and have made us feel welcome.”
Chuck’s Shop and Save carries discounted groceries, HBA health care products, pet supplies, bedding, tools, tarps, cleaning supplies, t-shirts, sunglasses toys and much more. “And we are planning to add a dairy and frozen department soon,” he said. Stefanie added, “And we will be doing some remodeling in the near future. Then we will have a grand opening.”
Chuck’s is open 7 days a week – Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. “We are planning to extend the hours soon,” they said.
The phone number to reach them at the new Clare store is 989-424-6700. Stop in and welcome them to the community.
