Five area students spent an unusually long time on the bus Wednesday.
Bad weather conditions across mid-Michigan closed many schools, but one school that remained open ran into problems on the drifted rural roads while transporting youngsters. The bus spent an extra long time out in the cold when it became stuck in a snow drift more than a foot deep on Lincoln Road in northern Isabella County.
Five students were kept warm on the bus while waiting for rescue. Reportedly the ice under the drift prevented the bus from being able to get out of the drift until help arrived.
There were no injuries during the incident.
