For the second year in a row, the Clare volleyball team is hoping to host an event that makes an impact on countless lives. On Monday, when the Lady Pioneers host Meridian in a Jack Pine Conference game, it will also double as the second annual Be the Change.

“It’s the volleyball team’s October project to help spread mental health awareness,” Clare head coach Shannon Zinser said. “We sell t-shirts, bracelets, magnets and we do special orders for sweatshirts and long sleeve t-shirts. All the money we raise for Be the Change stays in Clare Public Schools. The girls do something every month from December to May that helps raise awareness for mental health and shows kindness.”

The silent auction for the event starts Monday at 5 p.m. The freshmen and junior varsity teams begin play at 6 p.m., with the Be the Change presentations occurring in between those matches and the varsity contest.

“This is a huge event for our last home game,” Zinser said.
