Farwell boys hope to stay near top

By Ben Murphy

After tying for second place last year, the Farwell boy’s track team is hoping to see a repeat of that success.

Fourth year head coach TJ Staley welcomes back several state qualifiers from last year, including the 4×800 team of Josh Gross (senior), Trevor Staley (senior, state qualifier in pole vault), Luke Schultz (senior) and Tanner Touchtone (junior, state qualifier in 400). The state qualifying 4×100 team has Jacob Turner (senior), Touchtone and Rohdy back, but lost Greg Saupe to graduation.

A key newcomer to the team is Brandon Frank (distance), who has already set a school record in the 3200 this season. Farwell has had three indoor meets already this season and competes next tonight (Friday) at the SVSU outdoor meet and competes again April 17 at Gladwin in a Jack Pine Conference trimeet.

Preview info for the girl’s team was not provided at press time.
