After a year of growing pains, Farwell baseball head coach Erik Schunk hopes that 2013 is the year that Farwell baseball takes the next step. “I am looking forward to this season,” Schunk said. “I have a good mix of returners and newcomers.”
The Eagles, who went 8-24 last year bring back seniors Mike Coronado (pitcher, infield), Quincy Crawford (infield, outfi eld), juniors Austin Hickey (pitcher, infi eld), Trent Marhofer (pitcher, fi rst base), Walter Mosby (pitcher, outfield), Dylan Brown (shortstop) and Jacob Sutton (pitcher, fi rst base).
New to the team is senior Ariet Turatbekov (outfi eld), juniors Mandel Militello (outfield), Cameron Otto (outfield), Curtis Robinson (pitcher, outfi eld), Devin Warner (fi rst base) and sophomores Jordan Renner (catcher, outfi eld) and Noah Wilson (outfi eld, catcher).
“I am returning seven of the nine starters from last season and have added depth to the pitching rotation and utility positions with my newcomers,” Schunk said. “I think we will have a good balance of offense and defense which will help us in the multi-game weeks.”
Farwell opens its season on Saturday at the Evart Invitational.
