Farwell second at Carlstrom Memorial

The Harrison track team served as hosts of the Mark Carlstrom Memorial Invitational on Friday, April 27, with Farwell, Michigan Lutheran Seminary and Montabella also attending.
MLS won the girl’s meet with 72 points, Farwell placed second with 59, Harrison came in third with 30 and Montabella took fourth with 24.
Farwell’s 3200 meter relay team of Ashley Gaskill, Abby Nordstrom, Julie Swinehart and Kayla Sharrow took second place while a Lady Hornet team consisting of Kayla McKenna, Rae Bundoff, Brianna Conner and Christine Brooks placed third.
Farwell took second in the 800 meter relay as well, with a team of Kaitlyn Barnhart, McKenzie Garver, Kayla Kelly and Janna Hamming. Coming in third was a Harrison team of Erica Hecman, Katelyn Sherrick, Andre Martinez and Brooke Colville. The same Farwell relay team also took second in the 400 meter relay.
In the 1600 meter relay a Farwell team of Nordstrom, Garver, Gaskill and Hamming took second with a Hornet team of Bundoff, Brianna Conner, Kayla McKenna and Christine Brooks coming in third.
Colville took third in the 100 hurdles and took first place in the 300 hurdles. Coming in second in the 300 hurdles was Gaskill.
Farwell’s Kayla Sharrow won the 1600 meter run with a time of 6:12.09.
Farwell won the boy’s meet with 75 points, MLS came in second with 58, Harrison took third with 44 and Montabella came in fourth with 25.
Farwell’s 3200 meter relay team took first with a team of Luke Schultz, Trevor Staley, Josh Gross and Tanner Touchtone, with Touchtone, Greg Saupe, Jacob Turner and Keegan Rohdy coming in first in the 800 meter relay. Taking third in the same event was Harrison’s team of Cody Rodgers, Jake Walraven, Kalib Clark and Beau Niezguski.
In the 400 meter relay, Farwell again took the top spot, this time with a team of Touchtone, Saupe, Turner and Rohdy.
Farwell also won the 1600 meter relay, getting a gold medal effort from Staley, Saupe, Rohdy and Touchtone. Harrison took third in the event behind a team of Brooks Leonard, Rodgers, Jordan Haley and Beau Niezguski.
In the 1600 meter run, Schultz took top honors with a 5:01.2 with teammate Joey Bowen coming in third at 5:06.16 and Harrison’s Brenden Taylor coming in fourth.
Farwell took the top two spots in the 300 hurdles, with Saupe coming in first and Harris Schaub placing second.
