A late comeback still wasn’t enough for Harrison to pick up its first win of the season Saturday night, dropping a home boys basketball Jack Pine Conference make-up contest 65-55.
The Flying G’s led 17-11 after the first quarter, but the Hornets outscored Gladwin 12-11 in the second to cut the gap to 28-23 at the half.
Gladwin took control of the game with a 20-8 scoring margin in the third to lead 48-31 entering the fourth. Harrison had its best quarter in the fourth, outscoring Gladwin 24-17 but it wasn’t enough to get back into the contest.
Bret Coughlin led Harrison with 19 points, Casey Rundell had 13, Cody Cooper had nine and Matt Haskell had five.
On Friday, playing another JPC at Meridian, the Hornets suffered a 58-33 loss.
The Mustangs outscored Harrison in each of the first three quarters, leading 14-5 after the first, 33-10 at the half and 51-21 entering the fourth. Harrison closed the game with a 12-7 scoring edge in the fourth quarter to account for the final.
