With a strong cast of returning golfers, the Farwell varsity golf teams is fully confident that 2013 will be a strong season.
“This should be an exciting year,” head coach Bernie Starnes said. “We return seven golfers from last year’s team. I’m hoping that this season will be a really special one for our seniors.”
A year ago the Eagles took third in the Mid-Michigan Golf Conference and return seniors Nicholas Saupe, Sean Robison, Keith Campbell, Taylor Larrabee, Lane Romanelli, along with juniors Mitch Nordstrom and Joshua McCurry.
New to the team is sophomore Joran Reger.
“It’s been difficult to determine where we are so far this season due to the weather but this team has a lot of potential to shoot some low scores,” Starnes said. “We don’t have to rely on one or two players to get the job done for us this season. Our team goals are to win our conference, qualify for districts and compete in the state tournament.
Farwell opens its season April 15 at the Greenville Invitational.
