Sheriff Wilson pleased with joint investigation

On 2-9·12 the Clare County Sheriff Deputies handled 2 breaking and entering complaints at two local gas stations. One was at Oak Ridge Party Store in Farwell the second was the North Marathon Gas Station located north of Harrison. It was discovered that during the night hours two unknown subjects had broken windows and gained access stealing cigarettes and alcohol.

It was soon discovered that the City of Clare Police was also handling business breaking and entering complaints that happened over night also. Detectives found that the city Police handled breaking and entering complaints at Mancinos, the Quick Lube and also Jumbo Video where door glass or windows were also broken for entry.

As the investigation continued it was then learned that the Village of Beaverton also was targeted and 5 businesses were broken into there as well. Surveillance video from the various stores was viewed allowing investigators to put together a description of the two males involved as well as the vehicle ..

On 2-13-12 a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle was located in the City of Clare, the driver was identified and spoken to and it was discovered that the owner allows her grandson to borrow the truck on occasions.

On 2-14-12 Detectives from the Clare County Sheriff Department assisted by Officers from Clare City, Beaverton City and Isabella County Sheriff Department executed a search warrant at a residence located in Surrey Township of Clare County. The search warrant was the results of information Detectives from the Clare County Sheriff Department received from the City of Clare Officers and Isabella County Sheriff Deputies .

. During the search stolen property was recovered and one suspect was interviewed, as a result of the interview the 18 year old Farwell man was arrested for his involvement in 16 business breaking and entering complaints.

Detectives from Clare County assisted by Beaverton Police then obtained a second search warrant for a residence located in Sheridan Township of Clare County. That search warrant was executed on the home where more stolen items were recovered along with other items.

A 19 year old Clare man was interviewed and as a result of the interview he was also arrested and taken to the Clare County Jail. Both men are currently lodged awaiting formal charges from Prosecuting Attorney Ambrozaitis’s office. Information will be turned over to City of Clare, Isabella County, Beaverton City and Gladwin County Sheriff Departments for resolution of their cases.
