Coleman entered Thursday’s Mid-State Activities Conference game at Vestaburg having lost two-straight close contests. The Lady Comets got over the hump against the Lady Wolverines, using a big first quarter to roll to a 69-40 victory.

“After the loss to Harrison on Monday night I challenged the team to play a full game and they didn’t disappoint,” head coach Nick Katzinger said. “We came out aggressive and stayed that way the entire game and we forced 22 steals as a team.”

The Comets raced to 24-9 lead after the first quarter and held the same margin of lead at the half, 40-25. Coleman pushed further ahead entering the fourth, 55-33.

“We were 30-for-60  shooting, I’ve been waiting for this team to come out of its shell and play like this,” Katzinger said. “I know we are capable of doing this every game.  If we continue to play like this the sky’s the limit.”

Leading the way in the win was Jaden Berthume with a career high 34 points and she also had six rebounds, six steals and four assists. Katelyn Pnacek had 21 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and three steals and Danielle Beauchamp had five assists.

Coleman (6-6 overall, 3-4 MSAC) was at Breckenridge on Thursday and plays at home against Ashley on Thursday, Feb. 7.
