Clare stayed alive in the Jack Pine Conference baseball champion conversation on Tuesday, sweeping host Houghton Lake 8-1 and 9-1.
Logan Emery won game one, pitching seven innings and giving up one earned run on four hits, eight strikeouts and two walks.
Emery also had two hits on offense, Matthew Magnus had a double and two RBI and Gabe Denton had a double and one RBI.
Chris Dysinger got the win in game two, giving up no earned runs on five hits and one walk.
Charlie Bugbee led the offense with three hits, Magnus had a double and a single, Mason Packard had a double and a single and Dysinger had a hit and two RBI.
On Thursday, May 1 the Pioneers won two games in Beaverton, 3-0 and 6-0 in JPC play.
Bugbee got the win in game one, giving up four hits and striking out five batters.
Camden Dice had a double and two singles, Magnus, Emery and Bugbee all had one hit apiece with Magnus adding an RBI.
Dice got the win in the night-cap, giving up three hits, striking out six and walking one.
Bugbee had two triples, two singles, two RBI and scored three times, Dice had two hits and two RBI, Emery had two hits and an RBI, Paul Cole had three hits and scored twice and Packard added one hit.
Clare (11-3 overall, 5-1 JPC) hosted Harrison on Thursday and hosts Farwell on Tuesday.
