Clare, Farwell golfers finish back in pack

The Clare and Farwell golf teams competed at a division three regional on Wednesday night, held at Kalkaska’s Grandview Golf Course.

Charlevoix won the match with a 327 while Tawas Area and Elk Rapids took second and third to punch their state finals tickets. Clare tallied a team score of 401 to take 13th, while Farwell did not have enough to field a team score.

Leading the way for the Pioneers was JJ Gross. He had a solid round of 74, giving him fourth place. His finish will allow him to move on to the state finals as an individual. Bradley Fields hit for a 93 and finished 34th while Charlie Brown and Mitch McDowell both hit 111 to finish 79th.

Farwell had Brian Pritchard hit for a 97, placing him 42, Conner Yule carded a 110 and was 69th and Cole Spivey shot a 115 and was 77th.
