Longtime Clare varsity golf head coach Chris Fedewa has a team full of familiar faces hitting the links this spring. The Pioneers finished sixth place in the Mid-Michigan Golf Conference last year but hope to use that experience to move up.

“We have everyone returning from last year’s team which is going to make us better right from the start,” Fedewa, who enters his 24th year as head coach of the team said. “The players know most of the courses we play and have a good idea of what to expect. Having a good group of upper classmen will also help our newcomers learn what to do on the course.”

Seniors returning to the team are Justin Boggs, Josh Benchley, Hart Smalley and Roel Castillo. Juniors coming back are Bradley Fields and JJ Gross and sophomores are Jarred Lindsey and Mitchell Sterner. Freshmen joining the team are Cristian Kunse, Charlie Brown, Austin Harnik and Alan Winter.

“I’m excited about our younger golfers,” Fedewa said. “I can’t wait to get them on the course and see what they can do, Our goal, as it is every year, is to show improvement over last year.”
