Clare runs to 2nd, 3rd at Lancer Invite

The Clare cross country teams ran in the big school division at the Lancer Invitational on Saturday, hosted by Bullock Creek. The Pioneers had their usual good showing, as the boys placed third and the girls were second.

David Good led the way for the boys, as he came in eighth place in a time of 17:10. Kaleb Schroeder was 12th at 17:31, Jayce Miller was 19th at 17:46, with a time of 18:06 and in 27th was Alan Winter, Cole McMillan was 55th at 19:19 with William Bell and Ted Bell taking 70th and 76th in times of 19:41 and 19:50. Dylan Morrish and Charlie Brown also ran, clocking times of 20:01 and 20:15.

The Lady Pioneers had Lainey Veenkant take third in a time of 19:06. The trio of Katherine Haupt, Riley Schroeder and Kameron Haag were 12th, 13th and 14th in times of 20:46, 20:47.09 and 20:47.69, Olivia Haring was 16th at 21:03, Abby Leigh was 24th at 21:33 and Nicole Taylor was 34th at 22:06.

Other runners for the Pioneers were Hattie Veenkant at 22:09, Sofiah Coker at 22:48, Bri Smith at 23:39, Holley Gilmore at 23:58, Grace Ann Gomez at 24:06, Alexis LaPoe at 24:21, Emma Davison at 24:57, Katherine Brandon at 26:21, Tarryn Winter at 26:35, Josie Fox at 27:35, Isabel Schroeder at 27:49, Allie Boyd at 31:48 and Aubrey Miller at 39:50.

Farwell and Harrison also competed in the small school race.

The Farwell boys had just two runners and did not compile a team score. Wyatt Tubbs was 29th in a time of 19:19 and Brock Byard ran a time of 23:21 to place 98th.

The Lady Eagles earned a 10th place finish, led by freshman Alana Gaskill who ran a time of 24:48 to finish 44th. She was followed by Hunter Sponseller in 67th at 26:13, Jasmine Warner in 87th at 27:40, Katheron White was 91st at 28:27, Jenna Wilkerson was 98th at 29:46 and Linn Bostrom was 108th at 31:05.

Harrison had its boys team come in 12th, led by Travis Taylor in a time of 19:34 and place of 34th. After that it was Dakota Lawrence in 72nd at 21:41, Jessie Hansen was 97th at 23:20, Zach Chenoweth was 104th at 23:48 and Tristan Osterloh was 124th at 46:32.

The Lady Hornets ran to an 11th place finished and were paced by Aliona Heber, who ran a 25:56 and took 62nd. Aurora Ault was next in 71st at 26:28, Katelyn Pell was 84th at 27:17, Alexys Carlstrom was 105th at 30:38 and Elizabeth Jacobs was 116th at 33:11.

The first Jack Pine Conference jamboree is Wednesday in Gladwin.
