The Clare varsity volleyball teams most recent action happened at the Freeland Invitational on Aug. 28, though the Pioneer suffered losses to Bullock Creek, Mt. Morris, Freeland and Frankenmuth.

The team also played in Kalskaska on Aug. 26, topping Kalkaska but losing two other matches.

On Aug. 24 the team played in the Chippewa Hills Invitational, topping Coleman but losing two other matches.

The Pioneers (2-7) see the court next at Breckenridge on Saturday and play at Farwell Sept. 11.

“We have only had a few wins so far, as a team we are learning how to play together,” Clare head coach Emily Blackburn said. “When you put six new girls on a court and expect them to know how to play together, they need practice. We should be ready for conference to start next week though.”
