Oscoda was nearly impossible to stop Friday night. Coleman, hosting the Owls in a non-conference football game at Freeland High School, gave up five first quarter touchdowns and ultimately came up short, 70-7.

“Oscoda came in and smacked us in the mouth early and we didn’t respond,” head coach Chad Klopf said. “If it could go wrong in a football game, it went wrong. We need to come back together and right the ship and get ready for next week.”

The Owls raced to a 35-0 lead after the first quarter and led 54-7 at the half. The second quarter score came on an 18-yard touchdown pass from Konner Carbeno to Ty Klopf. Matthew Federico booted in the extra point.

Tyler Germain ran 12 times for 34 yards and completed one pass for 55 yards, to Jaden Bovee. Carbeno was one-of-two passing for the 18-yard score to Klopf.

Bryce Middleton had eight tackles to lead the defense.
Coleman (1-1 overall) opens Mid-State Activities Conference play tonight (Friday) when it heads to Merrill (2-0). The Vandals are coming off a 33-8 win over Alcona last week and topped Valley Lutheran 40-6 in week one.
