Eagles win, tie Hornets

Farwell hosted Harrison in both team’s Jack Pine Conference baseball opener Tuesday, with the Eagles winning game one 1-0 and the second game finishing in a 5-5 tie.
Freshman Collin Maxey started game one, dominating Harrison hitters along the way as he struck out nine batters, walked two and gave up four hits.
The game was scoreless entering the bottom of the seventh, where Brendan Haring came around to score for a walk-off win.

Haring, Kyle Danielson and Jake Riffe had one hit apiece in the win.
The Eagles jumped to an early 5-0 lead in game two but the Hornets caught up at 5-5, where the scored ended after play was halted for darkness.
Danielson struck out five batter while Riffe struck out three for Farwell.

Noah Wilson had two hits and one RBI, with Collin Maxey, Austin Maxey, Haring and Trent Johns adding one hit each.
Ken Haskel took the no decision for Harrison, giving up four earned runs on five hits while striking out six and walking five.

Cody Forster led Harrison with two hits and two RBI, Jake Jackson and Jarrod Given both had two hits and one RBI with Brody Lewis and Zack Anderson adding one hit each.
Farwell (4-10-1) hosted Houghton Lake on Thursday, is at Coleman tonight (Friday) and is at Gladwin on Tuesday.
Harrison (3-3-1) hosted Gladwin on Thursday, is at McBain on Monday and travels to Houghton Lake on Tuesday.
