Hornet bats silent in twin loss

The Harrison baseball team couldn’t get things going in Meridian on Tuesday night. The Hornets fell to the Mustangs in Jack Pine Conference play, 7-1 and 13-1.
In the opener, Ryley Bennett took the loss, as he tossed four and one-third innings and gave up six earned runs on six hits, two strikeouts, two walks and two hit batters. Tyler Battle pitched one and two-third innings of relief, giving up one earned run on three hits, one strikeout and one walk.

Josh Gwisdalla scored the team’s lone run in the third inning. He reached base on a single and came in to score on a triple by Jared Bennett.

Also getting a hit for the Hornets was Corey Lang, Bennett and Ryan Carlstrom.

Lang took the loss in the nightcap. He pitched five innings and gave up eight earned runs on eight hits, two strikeouts, four walks and one hit batter. Battle and Gwisdalla pitched in relief, giving up five total runs.

Bryce Lipovsky was the lone run scorer in this game. He reached in the fourth inning on a double and came in to score on a single by Lang. Bennett, Carlstrom and Gwisdalla all had one hit apiece in the game.
