Not much separated the Farwell softball team from its opponents on Saturday. The Lady Eagles had just enough separation however, as they picked up a pair of wins behind ace pitcher Grace Saupe to win their first district title since 2016, at Clare.

Farwell edged rival Clare in the title game, 2-0. Saupe gave up no runs on one hit and struck out 12 batters.

The Pioneers had Abby Mellish take the loss. She pitched seven innings and gave up two runs on nine hits and three strikeouts.

Against 10th ranked Beaverton, the Eagles earned a hard-fought 3-2 victory in eight innings. Saupe gave up two runs on four hits and 11 strikeouts.

Saupe had an RBI in the game with Kathron White getting an RBI and Soyer Barnett getting a hit.

The Beavers led the game 1-0 after the first inning and 2-1 in the third, though the Eagles tied the game late and won it in the eighth.

Farwell (20-8 overall) heads to the Standish-Sterling regional on Saturday. The Eagles open with McBain in the semi-finals with Reed City and Meridian playing in the other semi-final.
