Lady Eagles double up on Hornets

The Farwell softball team closed the regular season on a high note Thursday night, as they swept up Jack Pine Conference foe Harrison 12-0 and 9-1.
Grace Saupe was dominant for the Eagles in the opener, as she pitched six innings of no-hit ball.

The Eagles had plenty of offense behind her, as they plated four runs in the top of the first and four more in the top of the second. Farwell plated a single run in the top of the third and there more in the top of the fifth.

Saupe also helped her own cause with a home run, two singles and four RBI, Soyer Barnett also had three hits, Sydney Seybert had a double, single and three RBI

and Maddie Hensley had two hits and one RBI.

Alexis Carlstrom took the loss for the Lady Hornets. She pitched five innings and struck out four batters.

Things were a bit closer in game two. The Eagles scored two runs in the bottom of the second and took a 5-0 lead with three more runs in the bottom of the fourth. They scored a single run in the bottom of the fifth and three more in the bottom of the sixth.

Saupe got her second win of the night. She pitched seven innings and gave up one run on five hits.

Crawford had a home run, a double and two RBI, Seybert had a double and a single with Saupe, Barnett and Katheron White getting one hit apiece.

Emily Lipovsky took the loss for the Hornets. She pitched six innings and gave up nine runs, five earned on nine hits, five strikeouts and three walks.

Lipovsky had two hits, Julia Jackson had a double while Erika Cullen, Sara Gillespie and Sarae Weakland had one hit each.

Both Farwell and Harrison play in the Clare division three district on Saturday. Farwell plays Beaverton while Harrison plays Clare.
