The Harrison softball team got its season going on Tuesday night. The Lady Hornets had a rough go of it however, as they lost both contests to host St. Louis, 12-2 and 20-6.

“We did not play our best,” head coach Jamie Lipovsky said. “We had way too many errors, but I think we learned a lot.”

Emily Lipovsky took the loss in game one. She tossed five innings and gave up 12 runs, seven earned on 16 hits, two strikeouts and two walks.

Lipovsky also had a hit and a run batted in with Julia Jackson and Sara Gillespie getting one hit apiece.

In game two, the Sharks took an 8-0 lead into the bottom of the second, but the Hornets had their best offensive showing in the bottom half of the inning, plating six runs.  St. Louis erupted for 12 runs in the top of the third however and shut down Harrison from there.

Julia Jackson took the loss with Erika Cullen getting a strikeout in relief.

Jackson smacked a pair of hits and had an RBI and a run, Cullen had two hits and an RBI, Gillespie had a hit and an RBI, Taylor Craine had a hit and an RBI, Marley McVicar also had a hit and drove in a run and Sarae Weakland had a hit.

Harrison (0-2 overall) was scheduled to host Grayling on Thursday, hosts Lake City on Monday and heads to Evart on Thursday.
