“As a team, we were very disappointed with this loss,” head coach Kevin Richards said. “We got plenty of good looks, but at the end of the day, you can’t shoot 12-of-59 from the floor. Gladwin shot the ball well and played a nice game. There’s still a lot of season left and our shooting will come around.”

Gladwin took a double digit lead after just one quarter, 16-6 and pushed that lead to 30-10 by the half. The Pioneers outscored Gladwin 10-9 in the third but fell further back in the fourth.

“We’re proud of how hard the girls fought and kept their heads up the entire game,” Richards said. “They stayed positive when things weren’t going our way. That’s a great life lesson and tells us a lot about this group. We were proud of how they carried themselves. The only thing we can do is learn and move on.”
The Pioneers were led by Kunse with 12 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks, Peyton Hubel had seven points and three rebounds and Ellie Johnson added five points and three rebounds.

Clare (5-2 overall, 4-1 JPC) hosted Beaverton on Wednesday, is at Farwell tonight (Friday), heads to Ludington on Monday and is in Houghton Lake on Thursday.
