Stanley R. Bates, age 76 of Farwell passed away Monday, April 14, 2014 at his home. Stanley was born March 12, 1938 in Baldwin to Harold and Thelma (Wallace) Bates. He was united in marriage to Barbara Tiedeman in 1956. Stanley had retired as a supervisor after working for 24 years at General Motors. He and Barbara had moved from Burton to Farwell fulltime in 1981. Stanley was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose. He loved to tinker in his pole barn, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Stanley will be remembered by his family and friends as one that was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Stanley is survived by his wife Barbara; children Terry Lynn (John) Hulverson of Burton, Tammy Bates of Burton, Tim Bates of Burton, Tracy Bates of Lake, Tony (Lynn) Bates of Burton and Tina (Charles) Tankersley of Rockford; his stepmother Maxine Bates of Farwell; his brother Jim Bates of Farwell; half siblings Greg (Chris) Bates of Clare, Brad Bates of Texas, Pam (Robert) Davis of Texas, Joe (Robin) Guernsey of Colorado and several other siblings; 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Stanley was predeceased by his parents and several half siblings.
In keeping with Stanley’s wishes cremation has taken place with a memorial service to be held at the Clare Moose Lodge on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. Arrangements were handled by the Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home. On-line guestbook at www.stephenson-wyman.com
