In an effort to increase traffic safety, the Michigan State Police, Mt. Pleasant Post will be conducting targeted enforcement at specific high-crash intersections in Isabella County in the near future. Targeted intersections were selected based on an analysis of crash patterns. Those selected were determined to have a significant proportion of “preventable” crashes caused by drivers disobeying traffic signals or failing to yield right-of-way.
The Michigan State Police encourages drivers to always approach intersections carefully, and to be prepared to stop if the light changes. Michigan law states that a driver approaching a signal that changes to yellow is required to stop before entering the intersection unless unable to do so safely.
