Storm causes Harrison power outages

More than , 3,500 Clare County Consumer’s Energy customers in the Harrison area lost power due to the early morning March 3 storm that hit the area with rain, slush and ice.

Consumer’s Power Spokesperson Terry DeDoes said 90 Harrison area homes remained without power on Monday, but all were restored by Tuesday morning.

He said five outages were reported in Clare County with 1,245 losing power from the Frost Substation just after midnight, another 1,450 in and around the Deer Lake Subdivision losing power by 3:46 a.m. and several smaller power losses reported throughout the day on Saturday including 251 who are serviced by the Mannsiding Substation between Clare and Harrison.

Power problems were worse toward the northwest side of the State, said DeDoes, with 10,000 still without power near Traverse City on Tuesday. He said more than 170,000 Consumer’s customers lost power across the State because of the bad weather last weekend.
