Suemae Slater Lloyd

Suemae Slater Lloyd, 74 of Clare, peacefully entered the presence of Jesus on Friday, March 16, 2012 at home surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on June 8, 1937 at the family home in Gladwin County, the daughter of the late Louis and Hazel (Cotton) Slater.  Suemae attended Beaverton School and graduated from Miami Edison High School in Miami, Florida.

Suemae is survived by her husband of 55 years, Donald Leroy Lloyd; her two sons Donald Leroy Lloyd, Jr. and Samuel D. Lloyd both of Clare; two daughters Juliann E. Lloyd of Midland and Tina S. (Mark) Draves of Clare; four grandchildren Derrick Poet, Amber Callahan, Jessica Gross and Donnie Lloyd II; Three great grandchildren Jay and Mason Poet and Hayden Callahan.  Suemae is also survived by three brothers and two sisters.

Suemae graduated from MMCC School of Practical Nursing in 1971; this was the first graduating class of Nursing from MMCC.  She continued on to receive her RN degree; graduating in May of 1987.  She began her nursing career in Gladwin, at a family practice.  She then went to work at MidMichigan Medical Center – Midland, retiring from there in 1985.  Her love of nursing brought her back out of retirement.  She worked at MidMichigan Medical Center – Clare and also at the Medical Care Facility in Mt. Pleasant.  Suemae retired from nursing  in 2006.

Suemae and Donald enjoyed many years of traveling across the United States.  They traveled to Texas and Arizona in the winters.  She especially enjoyed the wood of Michigan for camping.

A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the Clare Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Jim Young and Pastor Tim Fall officiating.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to MidMichigan Home Care and Hospice or the Clare Church of the Nazarene Building Fund.  Burial will take place in the Arthur Twp. Cemetery.  Arrangements were handled by the Clare Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home.  On-line condolences may be made at
