Suicide attempt stopped at jail

Clare County Corrections officers were able to save a female inmate from suicide Saturday, June 1.

While doing cell checks, officers were told by another inmate of the suicide attempt that was in progress. They found that a 24-year old jail inmate had attempted to hang herself in her cell shower with her bed sheet.

Officers stopped the attempt and the inmate received medical and psychological care. She was cleared to remain incarcerated in the jail, but is under close observation.

She was jailed for a driving offense and other agency warrants, according to the release.

Sheriff’s Department officers were assisted by Mobil Medical Response, MidMichigan Medical Center – Clare and Central Michigan Community Health.
