A grant of $29,000 from TransCanada last week enabled the Surrey Township Fire Department to pass a Christmas season gift along to another department.
The funds from TransCanada enabled the Surrey Township department to purchase a new Jaws of Life from Hurst Jaws of Life and Apollo Fire Equipment of Romeo.

CCRFD firefighter Ralph Meyer, Chief John Jones and firefighter John Kaszonya, shown here with Surrey Township FD Chief Dave Williams, got a tour of the Surrey Township FD and a Jaws of Life set for their department last Saturday.

Instead of selling their old Jaws of Life Equipment, which had been well maintained over its 20-year life, Surrey Fire decided to donate it to help another department out.

When they found out the Canada Creek Ranch Fire Department in Atlanta didn’t even have a Jaws of Life, they let them know they would pass the old equipment along to them.

CCRFD Chief John Jones and two firefighters from their department, John Kaszonyi and Ralph Meyer, arrived in Farwell last Saturday morning for a tour of the Surrey department and to pick up their new Jaws of Life, which will add to the small department’s equipment.
