Three sentenced in Ashcraft home robbery

Dan Ashcraft and wife Colleen Millard, were sleeping April 15, when they were awakened by three armed men standing at the foot of their bed. All three were armed with what appeared to be semi-automatic hand guns, according to an earlier interview with Clare County Sheriff’s Detective Mike Coon.

The men were reportedly searching for jewelry and money in the home, and while one was holding the couple at gunpoint, the others searched for valuables.

The suspects left the couple tied in their bedroom.

Judge Thomas Evans sentenced the three men; Joshua Richard Stinson, Kristian Edwin Knutson and Lucas Walter on August 29.

They were identified and arrested May 10, and on July 13,  all three pled guilty: Gubaugh pled guilty to Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery and Home Invasion, first degree and Stinson and Knutson both pled guilty to Armed Robbery and Home Invasion, first degree.

Stinson was sentenced to prison time from eight to 21 years with credit for 134 days served plus $11,061 in costs, victim’s rights fees, fines and attorney fees.

Knutson was sentenced to from 4 ¼ years to 20 years with credit for 126 days served plus $11,061 in costs, victim’s rights fees, fines and attorney fees.

Grubaugh was sentenced to from four to 20 years in prison plus $10,461 in costs, victim’s rights fees, fines and attorney fees.
