The hobbies of a Shepherd lady and her partner has turned into a new brand new business just west of Farwell.

Sheena Tripp has an obsession with collecting antiques. She said her house is full of her vintage finds and she was running out of room.

Her partner Pete Maeder, whose expertise is restoring and repurposing antique furniture, convinced her that she needed to display and sell some of her collection and encouraged her to open a business.

“We were looking for a place for our antiques and as an auction site. We chose Farwell because there is much less competition here,” she said.

With Pete’s help and encouragement, Sheena opened Timeless Treasures Auction and Antiques at 2800 West Ludington (Surrey Road just ¼ mile west of Ludington Drive/M-115) last Thursday, just in time for the Memorial Day weekend.

That’s when the business will be open – each Friday, Saturday and Sunday – because the busy couple also have careers as Registered Nurses. Sheena is the Regional Director for Grace Hospice based in Bay City. Pete is a part-time RN Hospice Nurse. She is also a busy mom to three youngsters, 15-year-old Tim, 12-year-old Kayah and six-year-old Jaylei.

Pete, in between RN duties, will be working in the shop restoring beautiful antiques and making those that cannot be restored into new and unique furniture with a vintage feel. He also will be doing minor to moderate repair on furniture.

The new business will feature an online auction every week with a special website – www.auctiononline.com – which is specific for that purpose. In addition they are on Facebook where they will be featuring their antique restoration and some of their unique pieces. “We will have consignments for the auctions, but not for the antique sales yet,” Sheena said.

Her showroom is filled with antiques from her own collection – and she is always looking for new antiques. “Pete said I can still enjoy them here until someone

buys them,” she added with a smile. “I started doing this because I love old furniture, even though I had acquired more than I had room for.”

Pete is a craftsman who has repurposed 1960s style octagon and oval end tables into pet beds for small animals. Several are on display as are a collection of costume vintage jewelry, antique buffets and dressers, a working Victrola, several antique sewing machines and cabinets, country kitchen islands repurposed from antique dressers, antique desks including rolltops and much, much more.
