Traffic Stop in Lake nets two for drugs, weapons

Two Flint men in a vehicle stopped for speeding last Thursday were jailed on drug and weapons charges, according to a release from the Michigan State Police.

Troopers from the Mt. Pleasant Post made a traffic stop for speeding on U.S. 10 near Garfield Road in Garfield Township December 13 and discovered cocaine and a .22 caliber revolver in the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle, LeQuan Deshawn Smith-Thompson, 24, of Flint, was arrested and charged with Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Possession of Cocaine, and Habitual Offender 4th degree, charges carrying a maximum penalty of life in prison.

A passenger in the vehicle, Marquis Donte McLean, 20, of Flint, was also charged with CCW, Possession of Cocaine, and Habitual Offender, second degree.

Both men were arraigned on Friday, December 14 in 80th District Court. Thompson’s bond was set at $200,000/10 percent and McLean’s bond was $100,000/10 percent.
