A Beaverton woman is facing several drug charges after a traffic stop on June 15 led to the discovery of drugs in her vehicle.
Amanda Wolcott, 28, was arrested after State Police Troopers responded to a complaint of a vehicle driving erratically at a high rate of speed and stopped the vehicle near Harding Avenue and M-115 in Surrey Township. They saw a suspected controlled substance “in plain view” in the vehicle and then conducted a search, which uncovered additional “suspected controlled substances, including suspected heroin, marijuana and items used in the distribution of narcotics.”
They said Wolcott appeared to be under the influence of an unknown narcotic at the time of her arrest.
She was arrested on multiple controlled substance charges and Operating While Intoxicated and taken to the Clare County Jail.
Wolcott was arraigned June 16 in 80th District Court. She was charged with:
*Count 1: Controlled Substance – Delivery/Manufacture (Cocaine, Heroin, or Another Narcotic) less than 50 grams, did, possess with intent to deliver less than 50 grams of a mixture containing the controlled substance heroin, a felony punishable by up to 20 years and/or $25,000.00.
*Count 2: Controlled Substance – Possession (Cocaine, Heroin, or Another Narcotic) less than 25 grams, did knowingly or intentionally possess less than 25 grams of a mixture containing the controlled substance heroin, a felony punishable by up to 4 years and/or $25,000.00.
*Count 3: Controlled Substance – Possession of Marijuana, did knowingly or intentionally possess the controlled substance marijuana, a misdemeanor punishable by up to 1 year and/or $2,000.00.
*Count 4: Operate While Intoxicated, did operate a vehicle upon a highway, Harding Avenue and/or M-115, while under the influence of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor punishable by up to 93 days and/or $100.00-$500.00 and/or 360 hours community service.
Wolcott’s preliminary examination is currently scheduled for June 24, 2013, at 2:00pm. Her bond was set at $25,000/10 percent. She remains lodged at the Clare County Jail.
