Traffic stop leads to major drug arrest

A minor traffic stop Monday led to Mt. Pleasant Police arresting Christopher Perez, 32 of Grand Rapids for drugs and driving with a suspended license.
Perez was pulled over for failing to come to a complete stop according to Public Information Officer Jeff Brown.

An officer approaching the vehicle found Perez “chewing a green leafy substance” later identified as marijuana.

Perez was taken into custody for driving with a suspended license and tampering with evidence. A search at the Isabella County Jail discovered 12 individually wrapped bundles of heroin in Perez’s pants with a total weight of 11 grams.

Perez was lodged at the jail and arraigned on charges of Controlled Substance – Deliver/Manufacture of Less than 50 grams – second offense notice; tampering with evidence; operating – license suspended, revoked, denied – second offense.

His bond was set at $800,000/ten percent.

Perez remains lodged at the Isabella County Jail.
