A St. Helen man and his dog received minor injuries after he rear-ended a Waste Management garbage hauler Tuesday morning.
According to a release from Clare County Undersheriff Dwayne Miedzianowski, the accident happened around 9:14 a.m. on northbound US-127 just south of Hatton Road in Hatton Township.

Miedzianowski reported that the driver of the Chevrolet Trailbazer, Eric Eddington, was taken to MidMichigan Medical Center – Clare with minor injuries. Reportedly the dog in the vehicle had injuries to his mouth and leg, but was doing all right, Miedzianowski said.

The driver of the waste hauler, driven by Walter Coppens of Lake, was not injured.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Clare Fire Department, Mobile Medical Ambulance Service, Clare City Police, the Clare County Road Commission, Clare County Animal Control and Clute’s Towing.

Sheriff John Wilson reminded the motoring public to “please drive extra slow and cautious during hazardous weather conditions.”
