Dawn McDonald, 46, and her mother and passenger Shirley Becker,65, both of Harrison, were westbound on Arnold Lake Road in Dawn’s 2007 Jeep Compass when a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze being driven north on Eberhart by 21-year-old Zachery Daniels of Bellevue, failed to stop at the stop sign and collided with McDonald’s vehicle.

McDonald said “The jeep did its job and kept us alive, thank God.” Her vehicle was sent into a spin and rolled three times according to a witness. Both women in the jeep were bumped, bruised and cut and Becker had two broken ribs and a broken sternum, Dawn said. Both were treated at the scene by Mobile Medical Response Ambulance Service personnel and then taken to Mid Michigan Regional Medical Center – Clare for treatment.

Daniels and his passenger, 22-year-old Elizabeth Janness of Lansing, were not injured in the crash.

The Sheriff’s Office release said the crash remains under investigation.
Assisting at the scene were MMAS, the Harrison Fire Department, the Clare County Ambulance Service and Fox’s Wrecker Service.
