January 3, 2019

Walter (Walt) Johnson, age 83, passed away and went to be with his heavenly father on December 25, 2018.

Walt was born on September 15, 1935 in Flint, MI to his parents Alan and Eloise Johnson. He married Charlotte Stone in 1955.

1-4-19 OBIT JohnsonWalt worked in the vault business and then went out on his own into the construction business. He lovingly and carefully built the dream homes for many people he ended up calling friends. He also helped a number of church congregations realize their worship dreams by constructing their church projects.

Walt, an avid softball player, had a passion for the Tigers that he shared with his family. He also was a member of numerous golf and bowling leagues.

His family was his top priority and he loved them deeply, especially his four grandsons. He taught them bike riding, baseball, basketball, bowling, cooking and anything else they wanted to know (including some building skills!). But most of all he was just there for you, if you needed something or you just wanted to hang out.

He was the perfect father, grandfather and friend! He would do whatever he could to help someone else and if that meant you needed one of his famous macaroni and cheese dishes he would make it and deliver it!

Walt is survived by his wife Charlotte; his daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Todd Witbeck of Clare, MI; his four grandsons, Andrew, Adam, Alex and Aaron Witbeck of Clare MI; his daughter and her significant other, Lori Tesch and Bob Marshall of Ortonville, MI; and his sisters Arletta Minore and Cheryl Thompson of Flint, MI.

At his request Walt will be cremated and a memorial service will be held in late spring or early summer with the date to be determined. Anyone wishing to make a donation of any sort may do so to either one of the following: North Woods Nursing Center, 2532 W. Cadillac Drive, Farwell, MI 48622 or to the Amazing Grace Animal Shelter, 3365 Freeland Road, Saginaw, Michigan 48604.  Arrangements were handled by the Clare Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home.  On-line condolences may be made at www.stephenson-wyman.com
